Bonjour - Send it Clear

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a simple card I made using one of the  Half Scallop, Send it Clear Cards from Clear Scraps.
Bonjour_clear scraps_card_nancy keslin
I used some older papers and one of Julie Nuttings stamps from Prima, a beautiful bloom, some lace and my trusty Stazon to create this card.

Don't you love the way the acrylic allows you to peek through to the next layer?  Don't forget though, when stamping on acrylic go just a bit lighter with the pressure...it doesn't take much and since the inks don't absorb.

These Send It Clear cards make everything just a bit more special, and, by allowing little bits and pieces of the layers to show through you can create stunning effects.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Moments - Scrapbooking

Hi everyone!  Hope you are having a great week.  I can't believe how time flies...September is almost over and I am anxiously awaiting the oncoming of fall...so over the heat of summer.

Anyway, Today I want to share with you a layout I made of Mackenzie...can't believe what a beautiful young lady she has become.

Love this collection from Kaisercraft, the Forget Me Not range.  Bits of mists and a few Prima flowers in the background.  Thinking it maybe could use a little something more...maybe some stamping?  hmmmm

Clear Scraps and Echo Park = Mini Album

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a fun mini album I created using the Sassy Mixable 8x8 album from Clear Scraps and the gorgeous new Echo Park Collection, Simple Life.

I filled the Sassy Mini Album with the wonderfully fun and bright Echo Park papers and bits of flowers and lace.  The beautiful acrylic pages allow the fun embellishments from the collection and papers to peek through the other pages, while the shaped chipboard helps break things up for a more cohesive look.  I really like how the Echo Park Collection kits come with all kinds of fun embellishments and cards to decorate your projects to make them special.

Be sure to check out all the fun shaped mini albums and other products at Clear Scraps.

Pinwheel Party with Embellish by Dena - Darice

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a project I did for Darice using more of the gorgoues Little Azalea patterned papers from Embellish by Dena. These papers are so bright and cheerful, I couldn't resist making a few pinwheels for my friend's daughters to play with.

paper-pinwheel-daricePAPER PINWHEEL SUPPLIES:

Step 1. Begin by selecting coordinating patterns from the Embellish by Dena Little Azalea paper pad.  I chose to mix and match a bold pattern with a subtle one and I loved how this turned out. If you are using the 12×12 pad, cut each sheet into 6×6 pieces and glue the back sides together. You want the pattern to be visible on both sides of your pinwheel. pinwheel_darice_dena designs_nancy keslin_papersStep 2. Using a ruler, draw lines on the diagonals and cut to within a half inch of the center. pinwheel_darice_dena designs_nancy keslin_linesStep 3. Place hot glue into the center of the papers and gently bring corners together into the center, working in a circular fashion. This will create the pinwheel.  The side you apply the glue to will be the inside of the pinwheel. pinwheel_darice_dena designs_nancykeslin_glueStep 4. Place the brad through the center of the pinwheel, pushing through the glue. pinwheel_darice_dena designs_nancy keslin_bradStep 5. Poke a small hole into the paper straw and insert brad from pinwheel. pinwheel_darice_dena designs_nancy keslin_strawNote* These pinwheels can be made bigger or smaller based on the size of the paper and the length of the straw.  For a giant pinwheel, try a full 12×12 sheet of paper, a dowel and a push pin.  For a straw you can drink from, try hot gluing the pinwheel to the straw. You’re Finished! Now you can make as many pinwheels as your heart desires and watch them spin! paper-pinwheel-darice

You are So Special - My Minds Eye

Good morning everyone!  How is your week going?  Mine seems to be a bit hectic....Brighton turned 19 yesterday.  Eeek!!!!  Where did the time go?  And how can I be old enough to have a 19 year old son?

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a layout I made using some older My Minds Eye papers.  I think that the box containing them must be the closest to me when I sit down to scrap because I keep grabbing them.  lol

Love these photos of my girls...and am pretty happyt with the layout, that I swear is straight IRL...I think it is because I took the photo with is standing on end.  Definitely need to invest in a flower frog.  lol

Anyway, bits of Prima and some mists highlight these photos of my girls.  Love how close they are...oh, and see those stips of bling...you will never guess how old they are.  The are from Glitz Designs and I would guess it is around 8 years old.  lol....Use it or lose it.

Well, hope you have a great day.

Blooming in August

Good Monday morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  It was definitely a full one for me. Saturday we got Brighton moved into his new apartment, and Sunday was spent attempting to be creative.   Speaking of creative, I have really been enjoying Jamie Dougherty's Blooming Through the Seasons classes.  Septemeber is the last of this quarter and then off we go into a new one...so if you would like to come play.....You can sign up for 3 months/6 months or all 12.

I am of course, a little behind in my art journal.  This is the girl for August...I am really liking her...not so much the flower tho.  sigh...oh well...I do still like it.  Lots of yummy water color crayons and pencils...and a bit of gellato just for fun.
And you know I have no patience, and I can't follow instructions, so I added her face while the gesso was still a bit wet...which in the end Iwas really happy with as it gave her face some depth.  lol

Anyway...hope you have a great day.

Do You Know - My Minds Eye

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday.  I hope you are having a great day and getting ready for the weekend.  We have a crazy busy weekend planned here.  Brighton is getting his first apartment, and tomorrow is move in day.  So excited for him, what a huge step, but a little sad to see him growing up so quickly.

Speaking of growing up quickly, here is a layout I did featuring a photo of Ainsley.   Working through my stash of older supplies, more My Minds Eye.

This photo was taken just this spring and it is amazing how much she has grown and changed in just that short a period of time.  Oh ....where did my babies go?

Have a great weekend.
Hugs.

Thirsty Thursday

Hi everyone!  Wanted to share something a little different today...thinking of making it a regular blog feature.

Thirsty Thursday....What do you think?  I would share cocktail recipes (both with and without alcohol).
What brought this on?  Well, we have been redecorating the living room and the other day picked up a fun bar cart.  Of course, we had to equip it....lol  A few of our favorite libations right now.

So, how about a quick look at what we are drinking...

Cranberry Sparkler

  • Generous Jigger of Square One Vodka - My new fave.....it's organic! and local!
  • 1/2 ounce Fruitations Cranberry - Real fruit juice, no artificial, no GMO, no preservative so good.
  • Club Soda - We made our own.

In a chilled glass filled with ice add Square One Vodka.  Next, add the Fruitations cranberry juice. Remember, this is super concentrated, a little goes a long way.  Finally. top with Club Soda and a lime.

Drink up!

You are loved - My Minds Eye - Scrapbooking

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a scrapbook page I made using more of my old My Minds Eye stash.   I have really been enjoying making my way through some of the supplies I bought...feels so good to make a dent.    I even managed to use a few of the brads and stick pins I bought to match the paper...which I promise, is straight in real life.  lol

I really am finding as time goes by, I am buying less and less...just some basic cardstock and adhesive.  Every now and then I grab something to inspire....something for a mini or other project.  What about you?  Are you buying as much these days?
