It's Official

Catch the Moments Kits is closing.  Devon has some upcoming life changes (congrats are definitely in order) and has decided that maintaining the store is just too much.  That said, everything is on sale!  So be sure and check out what is going on over at her blog!

Best wishes to Devon.

April 28th - Reveal Day

Hi everyone!  Today is the 28th and that means reveal day at Sassy Lil' Sketches.  As usual, Cheri provided us with a beautiful sketch.

I decided to change the banner into a lovely floral border, Can't seem to get enough fussy cutting lately.

My two lovelies as Carolers in the 2009 Nutcracker.   Went pretty inky, dirty, grungy with this.  These Glitz papers were so lovely and I just couldn't help distressing them a bit.  hee hee.  I threw in some Pink Paislee Alphas and some Crate paper buttons, as well as some Webster's Pages trims.  Really happy with how this turned out....well, other than my handwriting of course.  lol

I can't wait to see your take on this sketch.  So be sure to check out the Sassy Lil Sketches blog for all the deets and more designers takes on the sketch.

More Getting Misty

For this technique you need to work fast, so have all your materials ready.  You will need your mist, a mask or stamp (for this I used a mask), your paper, embossing powder (I used clear UTEE) and a heat gun.  Don't forget that all your favorite Tattered Angels products are available and on sale right now at Your Memories Here.

I began by covering my mask with mist.  You can do this in one of two ways.  Spray your mat with the mist and then add your mask, or mist directly onto your mask.  I chose the later.
Then quickly place the mask ink side down onto your paper.
Remember I mentioned the working fast?  You will want to get the embossing powder on there as quickly as possible as the mist will be drying and absorbing into your paper.
Once the embossing powder is on the image, you can heat.  I love the cool watery texture you get with this technique.
I cut the image from my card stock and added ink before adding it to my layout.  The embossed image makes a great resist.
I hope you have fun with your mists.

Hugs.

Quick Update

Hi everyone.  Hope you are all enjoying spring and that your Spring holiday (we celebrate Easter) was fabulous! Filled with family, fun and of course, food.

I wanted to share with you a few layouts I completed this last week.

This first one is based on a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.  I am still trying to work my way though the older papers (never gonna happen, but I gotta try).  Last Christmas we spent a few days in Disneyland.  Waiting for the gate to open, I snapped these.  Love the new twine I got last week from The Twinery.  And I used up some super old Disney stickers.  So I guess I am slowly making a dent.  hee hee
Pink Paislee 365 and Bayberry patterned papers, alphabet, borderlines, Twine from The Twinery, Stickers EK Success
And this is my sweet niece, Lili.  For her birthday my grandmother (her great grandmother) bought her a tiny umbrella.  Needless to say, she loves it.  And living in San Francisco, I am sure she will find plenty of opportunities to use it.  This was supposed to be for the sketch challenge over on the Crate Paper blog.  But I forgot to send it.  Did I mention that life hasn't really slowed down much?  hee hee
Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe patterned papers, chipboard, buttons, ribbon.  American Crafts Thickers , Jenni Bowlin Tiny Letters, Martha Stewart punch, Judikins Diamond Glaze
And Finally, Ainsley...hanging out in the yard.  This one is based on a sketch I found at Creative Scrappers.  Didn't enter this either....just didn't happen.  lol  I loosely based the colors on a palette from Color Combos Galore.  I did manage to get this one loaded.  hee hee  Again, trying to use some older papers.
Pink Paislee Queen Bee patterned papers, Prima Flowers and Alpha, Amber Road butterfly.  Unknown lace.
Well, lots to do, even more blogs to post.  I have my Wednesday post at Your Memories Here (which still has an awesome sale on Glimmer Mists going on) and Thursday is reveal day at Sassy Lil' Sketches.

Until then....

Hugs.

Misty

Hi everyone, here I sit in the midst of lots of mist...coming from the sky....and from the gorgeous bottles of Tattered Angels that are on sale this month in the Your Memories Here store.

I love playing with different textures and color combinations, so for this project I cut some canvas with my Sizzix and a favorite flower die.

I added some contrasting glimmer mists.

And I attached it to a card I had misted using one of the gorgeous masks (also on sale) and added a Prima Butterfly and some Prima Lace.

And off my card went to a special friend.

I also made another card with the coffee filter flowers I showed you how to make last week.
Both these cards were made using sketches from Sassy Lil' Card Sketches.  How much do I love playing there!

Hope you are having a great day!

Hugs.

Hey Sugar

Hi Everyone!  I hope you are enjoying a great day where you are.  I know I am enjoying it here.  I have been busy with spring cleaning, preparing for the spring holidays and spring break.

You will never guess what I decided to scrapbook while engrossed in all things spring.  Yep, you guessed it.....Pumpkin Patch photos.  hee hee

In my defense, these photos have been sitting on my desk for quite some time waiting to be scrapped.  So I have decided they fall under the title of spring cleaning.  The colors in the Hey Sugar kit, that was also sitting on my desk, were just perfect.  The little bits of orange mixed with the red in my daughters tunic matched wonderfully with the title block from the papers.  I simply adore the patterns in this kit, the fabulous florals, graphic designs, swoon.  I matched them up with some beautiful Prima blooms and butterflies from the Your Memories Here store.   I am in love with the gorgeous Taffy flowers, the crochet and the colors are just up my shabby alley and I am rapidly working my way through my second package.  hee hee

Thanks to my good friend Heather for use of her design.

Hugs.

Happy Monday/Happy Easter

Hi everyone.  Wanted to drop by a few cards I made for Easter.  I love playing with vintage images, and the card sketches at Sassy Lil' Card Sketches give me just the excuse.  I picked up a few vintage Easter images from Twisted Papers a while back and thought they would make some perfect cards.

Bits of trim, lovely doilies (one of which I sprayed with glimmer mist) and paper flowers.  So simple, but I just love them.

Things here are still crazy, with school, driver's ed, ballet, swim and now the beginning of our cabana swim season; I really don't see an end in sight.

I appreciate everyone still stopping by when they have a chance, and I wish I was producing more lovelies to share....but alas......

I do have a few things coming up this week, so be sure and check back.

Hugs.

Coffee Anyone?

Life is still crazy here, but I had this tutorial at Ideas for Scrapbookers the other day and wanted to share...

A while back I was sharing some misting techniques and mentioned how I often use a bucket filled with coffee filters to hold small objects to mist.  So, that got me to thinking....what to do with all the left over, multi-colored coffee filters?

I grabbed a few of my favorite dies in roundish shapes.  You could also use paper punches.

And cut two of each size and shape.  I used two different sets of dies for these flowers.  One in a scallop and one in a more traditional floral shape.

I layered all the pieces and punched a hole through the center with my paper piercer.

I added a brad through the center of my layers. And then scrunced the flowers to form the desired shape.

If the color isn't quite right, you can always mist a little more.

Did I mention that Glimmer Mists are on sale now at Your Memories Here?  Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs.

Glimmer Screens

Recently I received some yummy Tattered Angels goodies from the Your Memories Here Store.  Gorgeous mists, fabulous screens....I just couldn't wait to jump in and play.

I often use screens to mask my layouts.  But this time I decided to do something a little different.

I began by misting the base of my card with two complimentary colors of glimmer mist.  Then, I used the screen as a stamp.

In order to help define the image, I went over the outline with a black Sharpie.  I added a handmade flower that I had misted with more glimmer mists, a few small chipboard pieces, and a beautiful Prima butterfly.

Hope you have a great day.

Hugs.

Friday

It is still crazy busy around here.  Lots going on with cabana season rapidly approaching, testing, school.  Ainsley is doing a bit better getting her work done.  But it is hard going and she just flat out refuses some days.  How do teachers do it?  Dang...how did I do it with the other two.  It isn't like I have never schooled a 9 year old before...heck, I have been doing this for 9 years....

Anyway, on to bigger...better and brighter.  A few new projects with Echo Park papers.

This first one is using the For the Record papers that are available at Catch the Moments kits.  I really loved the colors and patterns in this collection.  They are a little less geometric than other collections I have played with and even have a bit of distressing.  Right now you can get this kit for only $12.95!  What a great price.

I have had this photo of Ainsley and some swim friends on my desk since last summer.  It was taken at the cabana club the night of the overnighter.  Not sure if I should have pulled it out afterall as thinking of the overnighter...staying up all night chaperoning, dealing with...well...100+ children all night and then cleaning up the mess...... But such a cute photo and the new Playground papers were perfect.  I mixed in some Ruby Rocket chipboard, my favorite Thickers, a felt from Basic Grey. That blue flower???? it was made from a doodlebug paper frill.    This was one of my sample pages over on Ideas for Scrapbookers for layouts with no squares or rectangles.

Well, lots to do this weekend.  Fun stuff.  I can't believe it, but Phil and I are going out, the two of us...on a date...with another couple we know.  This will be the second time this week we have gone on a date!  We went to a friends vintage release dinner Wednesday and now this tomorrow.  Amazing huh.  lol  And I have tickets to tonights ballet.  Woo hoo!!!!  Adult stuff.  hee hee

For now though...back to the children and the housework.

Hugs.
